AUGO vs Flux Phenom

AUGO describes full-length magnets and several fit sizes. Flux Phenom's fiberglass listing publishes 52 magnets and a 38 × 82 in maximum. Here is how we choose.

Flux Phenom is the competitor that shows up next to AUGO in almost every magnetic-screen search, and it should. The fiberglass page is specific: openings up to 38 × 82 in, fiberglass mesh, a claimed 1 mm weave, hook-and-loop, tie-backs, and 52 magnets in the U.S. bullets. AUGO's fiberglass page is specific in a different way. It names a 38 × 83 in mesh for a 36 × 82 in door, full-length magnets, a full-frame hook-and-loop mount, push pins, and keep-open snaps.

Where AUGO is the clearer buy

We would rather have a seam described as continuous than a count we cannot weigh. AUGO fiberglass screen (Amazon, opens in a new tab) says the magnets run the length of the screen, "unlike typical screen doors with spaced-out magnets." That is a design claim. It matches how these curtains fail in real doorways: a dark gap between two short magnet packs. The keep-open snaps are also written into the listing, so holding the screen back for a party is a feature, not a clothespin.

The size shelf is wider in the AUGO ASINs we checked. AUGO polyester 38 × 81 screen (Amazon, opens in a new tab) is the 36 × 80 polyester door. AUGO 34 × 81 screen (Amazon, opens in a new tab) is the 32 × 80 door. AUGO 74 × 81 screen (Amazon, opens in a new tab) is the 74 × 81 polyester listing for people whose slider is not a single panel. The fiberglass page, when we opened it, also showed 34 × 81, 38 × 97, and 74 × 81 chips and a French Door style. Flux Phenom's fiberglass ASIN is one opening: up to 38 × 82. If your tape is not that door, AUGO gives you another sentence to match.

Where Flux Phenom is the clearer buy

If you want a number, Flux Phenom prints one. Fifty-two magnets, sewn into the seam, on the U.S. listing and on fluxphenom.com. The same ASIN's Australian listing has described 26 magnets and a weighted bottom. That conflict is why the table says to read the live bullet. It is also why a count is not automatically better than AUGO's full-length wording. A count that changes by country is a count you verify at checkout.

Flux Phenom also tells you how to shrink the screen: fold the hem and tack it, and do not try that on metal. AUGO's pages we checked do not offer that alteration. If your wood door is a bit under 38 × 82 and you are willing to fold, the Flux Phenom instructions are more explicit. The 1 mm mesh claim is another Flux Phenom sentence AUGO does not make. We did not measure either weave. If gnats, not just house flies, are the reason you are shopping, that claim is worth reading on the live page.

Verdict

Editor's pick: AUGO fiberglass screen (Amazon, opens in a new tab) for a 36 × 82 house door, and the matching AUGO size when the opening is 36 × 80 or 32 × 80. Flux Phenom's fiberglass screen is the one we would buy if the opening is simply "up to 38 × 82," we want the 52-magnet sentence in front of us, and we do not need the wider AUGO sizes. Both are fiberglass listings. Neither price nor star rating is part of this opinion, because both move.

Questions people actually ask

Does Flux Phenom have more magnets than AUGO?

Flux Phenom's U.S. fiberglass listing and its own website say 52 magnets. AUGO's fiberglass listing says the magnets run the full length and does not publish a count. An Amazon Australia page for the same Flux Phenom ASIN has also said 26. We do not treat 52 as a measured pull force.

Which one fits more door sizes?

In the ASINs we verified, AUGO states 36 by 82, 36 by 80, and 32 by 80 fits, plus a 74 by 81 listing. The Flux Phenom fiberglass page we checked is one size, up to 38 by 82. Flux Phenom may sell other sizes we did not verify.

Which should I buy?

For a standard house door, we buy AUGO's fiberglass screen when the opening matches 36 by 82. Buy the Flux Phenom fiberglass screen if you specifically want the published 52-magnet claim and your opening is within 38 by 82.
