Best magnetic screen doors for sliding doors

A patio slider is often wider than a 38 inch house screen. Screen one panel with AUGO, or cover the open span with the AUGO 74 × 81 listing or MAGZO's 72 × 80 page.

Updated 2026-10-31. Editorial opinion from listing specs, not a lab test.

Sliding doors fool people because the glass is large and the walk-through is not. If you only ever open one panel, you need a screen the size of that panel. If you park the panel and want the entire opening screened, you need a wide curtain. Buying the editor's pick in the single-door size and hoping it stretches is how the tape fails.

One panel: use a house screen

Measure the clear opening of the panel you actually use. A lot of sliders are about 36 inches of walk-through when the other panel is closed. If that opening is 36 × 82, AUGO fiberglass screen (Amazon, opens in a new tab) is still our pick. If it is 36 × 80, use AUGO polyester 38 × 81 screen (Amazon, opens in a new tab). The track and the raised sill count. Measure to the place the hem should land, not to the bottom of the glass.

Mount the screen on the frame around that panel, not on the moving glass. You want to open the glass, then walk through mesh. If you stick the screen to the sash, it tries to travel with the door and the tape loses on day one.

The full opening needs a wide listing

A common patio opening is in the 72 inch range, and some are wider. AUGO 74 × 81 screen (Amazon, opens in a new tab) is the AUGO listing we verified at 74 × 81 in, in polyester. The title does not clearly say "fits 72 × 80," so confirm the live fit sentence before you treat 74 × 81 as mesh or as doorway. MAGZO 72 × 80 screen (Amazon, opens in a new tab) is the page whose title does say it fits a 72 × 80 in door. Mesh and magnet count on that MAGZO page were not clear enough to quote.

Wide mesh is a sail

Twice the width is more than twice the wind. A full-length magnet seam matters more here, because a gap in the middle of a six-foot curtain is a flap. Weighted hems help the bottom stay put. The tall MAGZO door describes gravity sticks, but it is a 36 × 96 fit, not a 72 inch slider. Do not substitute it for width.

Use the keep-open snaps when you are carrying a table through, then close them. A wide screen left half-tied will peel the top tape. The install sequence is the same as a single door: top, center the seam, then the sides. Full steps are in how to install.

Leave the factory screen alone

If the sliding screen that lives in the track still rolls, keep using it. A magnetic curtain is what you add when that panel is torn, stuck, or missing, or when you want a hands-free split the factory screen does not have. It will not fix a bent track. For a tighter, more permanent pull-across screen, read magnetic vs retractable.

Questions people actually ask

Can a regular magnetic screen fit a sliding glass door?

It can fit one panel. AUGO's 38 by 83 inch fiberglass screen is for a 36 by 82 opening, which is a single door or one slider panel. It will not cover a six-foot opening.

What size covers the whole opening?

Measure the clear width with the panel parked. AUGO sells a 74 by 81 inch listing. MAGZO has a listing titled for a 72 by 80 inch door. Use the one whose fit line matches your tape.

Will it slide with the glass?

No. These are curtains on the frame, not a replacement for the sliding screen panel in the track. If you want the factory panel to move, repair that panel. A magnetic screen is a second layer you walk through.
