Best magnetic screen doors for French and double doors

Screen the leaf you use with the AUGO fiberglass door. Cover both leaves only if you measured a wide opening and the AUGO 74 × 81 listing agrees.

Updated 2026-10-31. Editorial opinion from listing specs, not a lab test.

French doors and double doors look like they need a special product. Often they need a decision. Either you use one leaf, the way most households do, or you swing both leaves and want the whole hole screened. Those are two different screens.

The active leaf is a normal door

Measure the leaf you open every day, inside its stops. If it is a 36 × 82 opening, AUGO fiberglass screen (Amazon, opens in a new tab) is the editor's pick, same as a front door. The other leaf can stay a door. You do not owe the architecture a six-foot curtain.

The center stile is the annoying part. It may sit deeper or proud of the side jamb. Put the tape on a flat face you can press, even if that means the screen sits a little proud of the glass. A wavy mount makes the magnets miss. If the meeting stile is too uneven for tape, screen from a wood casing further out, and only if that width still matches a fit line.

The French Door chip on the AUGO page

The fiberglass AUGO listing we opened was not only a 38 × 83 size. The style menu showed a French Door option alongside the fiberglass mesh. That is a reason to start on that page rather than a generic search. We did not open every child ASIN behind the chip, so the fit sentence you see after you click it is the one that counts. If the chip has disappeared, the single-door fiberglass size still covers one leaf.

Both leaves open

Measure the clear width with both leaves open, and the height at the short side. If you are near the mid-70s inches wide, AUGO 74 × 81 screen (Amazon, opens in a new tab) is the listing to read. It is polyester, titled 74 × 81 in. Confirm whether that is mesh or doorway. A double door that is really two 30 inch leaves may be closer to a 60 inch opening, which is neither the 38 inch screen nor the 74 inch screen. Do not buy both and overlap them unless you enjoy a seam in the wrong place.

Two separate screens, one on each leaf, are the cleaner install when both leaves get used. Order two of the size that matches one leaf. AUGO fiberglass screen (Amazon, opens in a new tab) if each leaf is 36 × 82. The magnets on each screen close that leaf. They do not need to marry the neighboring screen.

Questions people actually ask

Can one magnetic screen cover both French doors?

Only if the clear opening across both leaves matches a wide listing. AUGO's 74 by 81 inch page is the wide option we verified. Many people are happier screening only the active leaf with a 36-inch-class screen.

What about the strip where the two doors meet?

That astragal is rarely flush with the side stops. A single curtain stretched across both leaves has to bridge a bump in the middle. One screen per active leaf avoids that bump.

Does AUGO make a French-door version?

When we opened the AUGO fiberglass listing on October 31, 2026, the style menu included a French Door chip. Select that chip on the live page and read the fit line. We are not assigning it a separate ASIN.
